Anthony van Dyck (1599–1641) was a Flemish Baroque painter and draftsman from Antwerp, famed as the leading court portraitist in England. Best known for his elegant portraits of Charles I and European aristocracy, he also painted religious subjects and influenced English portraiture for over a century. He trained under Peter Paul Rubens and worked across Flanders, Italy, and England.
