Guido Reni

Guido Reni (1575–1642) was an Italian Baroque painter from Bologna and one of the most celebrated artists of his day. Trained in the circle of the Carracci, he developed a luminous, classical style marked by graceful figures and balanced, harmonious compositions. Reni’s altarpieces and images of the Virgin, Christ, and the saints were widely admired and copied, helping to define a refined, idealised, and deeply devotional current within Baroque painting.
