Luca Giordano

Luca Giordano (1634–1705) was a prolific Neapolitan Baroque painter, nicknamed “Luca fa presto” (“Luca, work quickly”). Active in Naples, Florence, Venice, and at the Spanish court, he produced vast fresco cycles and altarpieces characterised by rapid brushwork, rich colour, and theatrical movement. His extraordinary versatility allowed him to absorb and reinterpret multiple traditions, from Venetian colourism to the classicism of the Bolognese school.
